What are your students learning from the discipline program at your school ?

Are they learning to be dependent or independent?

Are they learning to depend on you for discipline or are they learning to be self-disciplined?

Are they learning to rely on you to solve their problems and resolve their conflicts or are they learning to do this on their own?

Are they learning to blame others for their behavior or are they learning to take responsibility for what they do?

Are they learning to use power to solve their problems as opposed to reason and cooperation?

Are they learning to focus on what they think you want them to do and what happens to them if they don't do it rather than what kind of person they want to be and how they are contributing to the school community?

Are they learning to focus on avoiding the consequences rather than finding a way to get what they want without infringing on the rights of others?

Are they learning to focus on what reward they will get rather than becoming a responsible, respectful person?

Are they learning that all decisions concerning school are made by you and other adults or that they are an important part of the decision making process?
